What happens during your first appointment?
Your initial consultation is a time for open dialogue and working together in a collaborative manner where you can freely discuss your concerns and what you hope to gain from your visit. Dr. Tanzer will listen to your concerns and encourage you to expand upon your matters of concern.
In a nonjudgmental, stress free environment you can freely express your concerns and issues. In addition to talking about your current situation and life style, Dr. Tanzer will ask you about your medical and psychiatric history. Before the session concludes you and Dr. Tanzer will review possible next steps and the best way to proceed.
The initial consultation is typically 60 to 90 minutes in duration but may vary upon an individual's needs. Followup sessions are approximately 45 minutes.
What does a session typically entail?
Depending on what issues are being addressed and your own personal preferences sessions may include medication management or talk therapy or both. The most effective therapeutic techniques are individually tailored to meet your needs. Using medication and talk therapy together may produce better results than either treatment individually. When medications are prescribed your response will be closely monitored.
Will you work with other health care professionals?
Absolutely! The objective of treatment is to ensure that the entire individual is healthy in all respects. With your consent and if appropriate Dr. Tanzer will work with any other physician, therapist or health care professional you designate. All aspects of your health are related and you can only benefit from a holistic approach toward your care.
There are times when Dr. Tanzer will refer you to a therapist or a specialist if there is a particular concern about some aspect of your health or if you may benefit from additional therapy sessions.
What is your fee structure?
Dr. Tanzer's fee is $450 for the initial session and $400 for all susequent sessions. The fee is paid at the start of your visit. Payments can be made by credit card, debit card, HSA or cash. Dr. Tanzer will provide a receipt of your payment and an invoice covering your session.
Do you accept insurance?
Dr. Tanzer does not participate in any insurance network and is considered an out of network provider. Dr. Tanzer will provide you with the necessary paperwork
needed for you to submit to your insurance provider. By not accepting insurance Dr. Tanzer can have greater flexibility in terms of scheduling, treatment
options and provide for greater confidentiality and privacy.
