Dr. Tanzer is a native New Yorker with a broad range of interests. A graduate of New York University Stern School of Business with a background in finance and
accounting, Dr. Tanzer went on to obtain his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine.
He completed a four year residency at Mt. Sinai / St. Luke's psychiatric residency program.
Mt. Sinai / St. Luke's Hospital has one of the largest psychiatric programs in New York City and provides training that encompasses the latest developments in the field and conducts leading research on new treatment modalities. While at Mt. Sinai, Dr. Tanzer researched and lectured on the use of Ketamine for treatment resistant depression.
Dr. Tanzer has developed an expertise in treating individuals from diverse backgrounds, exhibiting a wide variety of conditions and applying current treatment approaches.
Dr. Tanzer currently has a private practice in NYC's Financial District where he effectively treats individuals with a variety of issues including stress management, sleep disorders and social and work related problems. Among his specialties are attention deficit disorders (ADHD), anxiety disorders, depression and mood disorders.
He applies current evidence based treatment modalities, both talk therapy and medication, that have proven to be effective. Dr. Tanzer's practice offers a therapeutic environment where an individual feels free to openly express their issues and concerns in an atmosphere of privacy and confidentiality.
Dr. Tanzer is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is licensed to practice in New York State. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, New York State Psychiatric Association and New York County Psychiatric Association.
